Anxiety hypnotherapy in Solihull. Want to feel like yourself again?
Do you recognise these anxiety symptoms?
If you’ve been searching for anxiety hypnotherapy in Solihull, here’s what I want you to know first: anxiety doesn’t announce itself politely. It shows up as a mind that won’t stop, a body that’s permanently braced, and the exhausting performance of looking fine when you’re anything but.
I’m Asha Berzon, a CNHC- and NCH-registered clinical hypnotherapist based in Solihull, West Midlands.
Anxiety hypnotherapy in Solihull is what I do every single day. The NHS recognises anxiety as one of the most common mental health conditions in the UK, affecting millions of adults every year. Most of my clients have already tried other things. They come to mindAbility because they want something that actually works.
Anxiety is not a state of being; it’s an emotion. It’s a natural emotion, but it can become problematic when it is our default way of thinking. When we feel anxious, we can over-analyse and focus on worst-case scenarios. As a result, it can affect our self-belief and confidence, and we can miss opportunities and moments of joy and happiness. Using neuroscience, I help my clients understand anxiety and change their thought processes. By setting weekly goals, you will notice an improvement in sleep, energy levels, mood, and relationships. Clients report feeling braver, confident, and capable.
For some women, that anxiety has a hormonal root — if perimenopause or menopause is part of the picture, I work with that specifically too.

When anxiety doesn’t look like anxiety
Around 6 in 100 people in England are diagnosed with generalised anxiety disorder in any given week but a lot of my clients never get that diagnosis, because they don’t look anxious. They look capable. On top of things. The one everyone relies on.
High-functioning anxiety hides in plain sight: overthinking dressed up as thoroughness, perfectionism dressed up as high standards, exhaustion dressed up as just being busy. It’s the anxiety that shows up as a racing mind at 2am rather than a panic attack in public.
If that sounds more like you than the textbook symptoms, that’s exactly what I specialise in. And sometimes it has a hormonal root that’s never been named if perimenopause might be part of your picture, I work with that specifically too.
Please note: hypnotherapy is a strength-based approach. Everyone is different and results can’t be guaranteed. It works best when you’re ready to make changes, and it doesn’t replace medical care, so please keep your GP in the loop. Your FREE initial consultation is a 15-minute telephone consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions.
Will anxiety go away permanently with hypnotherapy?
Honestly? No — and I wouldn’t want it to. Anxiety isn’t a fault in you; it’s a warning system that’s had the volume turned up too high. My job isn’t to mute it forever; it’s to turn that dial back down to where it’s actually useful again.
Most GPs will point you towards CBT first, and there’s a reason for that: it’s been studied for decades, and it’s still what the NHS leans on as the go-to talking therapy for anxiety. I’m not going to pretend otherwise, and I’d never slag off something that genuinely helps people.
But here’s what I see week in, week out in this clinic: loads of my clients have already done CBT. It taught them to think differently about their anxiety, brilliantly, as far as it goes.
The problem is, anxiety doesn’t actually live in the thinking part of your brain. It lives somewhere much older and far less logical, the part that decides, in a split second, whether the supermarket or the school run is dangerous, long before your rational brain gets a say. That’s exactly why you can “know” your anxiety is irrational and still feel it just as hard.
This is where hypnotherapy does something different not necessarily better, different. It works with that older, faster part of the brain directly instead of trying to out-argue it. And the research backing this up isn’t fringe anymore: a 2024 review in Frontiers in Psychology examined how hypnosis calms the body’s stress response, and there’s a live clinical trial right now using brain scans to map exactly what hypnotherapy does to the nervous system in people with generalised anxiety.
So my honest answer: most of my clients find their anxiety fades into the background instead of running the show. Not gone, but livable. That’s not a cure; that’s freedom, and for a lot of people, especially those for whom CBT didn’t fully land, this isn’t the alternative; it’s the missing piece.
I've tried CBT and it didn't help — will hypnotherapy be different?
Yes and this is exactly why many of my clients come to me. CBT works at the conscious level; it helps you think differently about anxiety.
Hypnotherapy works at the subconscious level, where anxiety actually lives. You don’t need to analyse the past or talk about where it came from. Solution-focused hypnotherapy is entirely forward-focused. We work on how you want to feel, not on what went wrong. Many clients who haven’t responded to CBT find hypnotherapy transformative for exactly this reason. The approach is based on the modern science of neuroscience and neurobiology
Why is my anxiety spreading into areas of my life it never affected before?
This is really common, and it’s a sign that your anxiety has been building for a while. Humans are designed to adapt and frequently do (coffee to help keep awake after a sleepless night or possibly a glass or 2 of wine under the misconception that alcohol helps with sleep).
Anxiety spreads because your nervous system becomes increasingly sensitised over time. Things that were previously fine start triggering a response because your threat threshold gets lower. This isn’t a weakness. It’s your brain trying to protect you. But it needs resetting. Solution-focused hypnotherapy works directly on calming that overactive threat response and gradually raising your threshold back to where it should be.
How many sessions will I need for anxiety hypnotherapy?
Every client is different. Some notice meaningful change within 4 to 6 sessions.
Often, clients attend with one issue or a combination of issues that are bothering them. As we begin hypnotherapy, it can become apparent that the symptom has been present in many different ways that the client has adapted to (i.e., avoiding social situations that don’t feel important but now can’t attend work)
Others need more sessions, particularly if anxiety has been present for many years or has spread into multiple areas of life. Asha will give you an honest assessment during your free 15-minute consultation. Mindability doesn’t use a one-size-fits-all approach. Some clients do well with additional tools such as breathwork and tapping.
Is anxiety hypnotherapy available online?
Absolutely.
Yes, and don’t just take my word for it; a 2023 review in the International Journal of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis examined remote hypnotherapy delivered via video and found it comparable to face-to-face sessions in both efficacy and patient satisfaction.
What actually makes the difference isn’t whether you’re on a screen or on my sofa; it’s whether you trust the person you’re working with and whether you’re ready to do the work. I offer both, online across the UK and worldwide, or in person at my clinic in Solihull, and I’ll always be honest with you about which one makes sense for your situation.
